  4. About the newest official release of the PKZIP and PKUNZIP software,
  5. filename PKZ204C.EXE from PKWARE, Inc.
  6.  
  7. First of all, ignore the virus alerts.  These are false alarms.
  8. Only one version of the Norton AntiVirus software will give a spurious
  9. warning, and that warning is false.
  10.  
  11. Second, if you are in doubt about your copy of the software, download
  12. it directly from the Exec-PC BBS, Free file collection "C", PKZ204C.EXE.
  13. Be warned there already are some idiots out there who are distributing bogus
  14. versions of the software in renamed files.  For now, until you hear
  15. otherwise from PKWARE or from Exec-PC, the only real distribution file
  16. is named PKZ204C.EXE.

  18. Finally, if you are having problems running portions of the new software
  19. in certain environments, namely Windows or OS/2 or other complex operating
  20. systems, please try the following option on the command line for PKZIP
  21. or PKUNZIP for turning off the DPMI option:

  25. The "-)" option most likely will fix the problems.

  27. Exec-PC will stick with the ZIP format for the Exec-PC BBS at this time.
